While in high school in 1967, I joined the US Navy Reserves - home base, NAS Grosse Ile,
Michigan, USA. October 1968, I went on active duty. First on NAS Grosse Ile, Michigan.
Then January 1969, I was transferred to the US Naval Base, Treasure Island
San Francisco Bay, California. April 1, 1969, I was transferred to Naval Air Station (NAS) Agana Guam
To October 1970.
As an AZ (aviation maintenance administration man I was responsible for maintaining Yellow Sheets in the logging engine hours and maintenance tracking in the maintenance department of aircraft Grumman HU16 and Helicopters UH34 and Constellation C131.
However, I was a crew member on the Grumman HU16s. Thought they were able to land in the water. I never had the opportunity to do so.
I became an aircrew member on the search and rescue airplane HU16 seaplane. En route from Taiwan, our plane got his by lightning during a storm, and the nose cone got burned out - that is where is radar is, and we had issues getting back to NAS Agana, Guam. (Fire Department saw we were ok for fire damage.)
1973 my Naval history ended.
He started to work with my father's (John) Cash Register Company in Dearborn, Michigan. Dad passed away in 1989 - the company was sold. I left shortly afterward. Continuing as an independent contractor in the cash register business.
Chris became an audio editor for an internet services company, then for a health care and travel company. he still records, edits audio and videos.
